Using the Laser Pointer in Smart Consult
Communication during a remote survey can sometimes be a challenge. It isn't always easy to describe exactly which item you're looking at or which corner of a room you need to see next.
The Laser Pointer solves this by letting you draw directly on your customer's screen. It’s the digital equivalent of pointing at an object in the room with them, ensuring you both stay on the same page.
How it Works
We designed this to be as simple as possible so you can keep your focus on the inventory, not the software.
No buttons required: To use the pointer, simply click and drag your mouse anywhere on the video feed.
Instant visibility: As you draw, a blue line appears on both your screen and your customer's phone in real-time.
Automatic cleanup: The lines will fade away on their own after a few seconds, keeping the screen clear for the rest of the survey.

When to use the Pointer
This tool is most effective when you need to be precise. Use it to:
Confirm specific items: "Just to be sure, is it this specific lamp you're moving?"
Identify pre-existing damage: Circle a scratch or a dent so the homeowner sees exactly what you are documenting.
Give directions: Draw an arrow to show the homeowner which way to turn the camera or which cupboard to open next.
Check labels: Point to the specific area on a crate or appliance where the serial number or model info is located.
Note: The pointer works best when the homeowner is holding their device steady. If they are moving the camera quickly, wait for them to pause before you draw to ensure your mark lands on the right spot.
